Reading the Leaves

…tea leaves that is. I’m pretty sure my tea leaves say something like, “Hi, my name is Sumiko and I’m completely addicted to tea.”

I really can’t get enough of it.

Green tea is my very favoritest thing on the entire face of the earth. I love it so much that I can be induced to make up words to show the extremity of my devotion to it.

Clockwise from the top: matcha (ceremonial green tea), genmaicha (my favorite morning tea), grapefruit green tea, dumbara curls, sencha and young hyson. Delicious!

Herbal teas: organic citrus mint in the upper left, mint tea I brought back from a trip to Morocco, and spearmint. Technically, if it’s not made from leaves of the tea tree, it should be called a ’tisane.’ But ‘tea’ gets the idea across all right, I think.

Usually I prefer loose leaf tea, but sometimes I’m in a hurry, or have a lot of people over, and then bags are just easier. Lady Grey is one of my favorites, but I like the oolongs on chilly autumn afternoons and the red raspberry makes beautiful, tasty sun tea. YUM.

Chai and black tea. This particular black tea is in little pebbly granules, but it’s a rich, malty tea. Anyone who complains that tea isn’t as strong as coffee should drink a properly brewed up of this stuff. It’ll knock your socks off.

What is your favorite tea? Or, if you’re not a tea person, what’s your favorite drink?

Love, peace, and hot brewed beverages,
